What this policy covers

This policy explains how The Ranking Ledger collects, uses, and shares information when you create rankings, use a guest session, sign in, or interact with advertising on rankingledger.com.

Information we process

• Guest rankings. Guest lists and ranking choices are stored in your browser's session storage and are designed to clear when that browser session ends.
• Account information. If you sign in with ChatGPT, we receive the account identifier, email address, and display name needed to create and operate your Ranking Ledger account.
• Saved content. We store the list names, items, notes, image URLs, source URLs, tier definitions, and placements that you save to your account.
• Technical information. Our hosting, security, and advertising providers may process IP address, browser and device information, request details, cookies, and similar identifiers.

How we use information

We use information to provide guest and signed-in rankings, synchronize saved lists, secure and troubleshoot the service, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and support advertising for eligible free accounts.

Cookies, local storage, and advertising

The service uses browser storage for guest drafts and may use cookies for authentication and security. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on a visitor's previous visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to personalize ads.

You can control personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. You may also review industry opt-out choices at aboutads.info. Where required, a consent or privacy-choice message will provide additional regional controls.

When information is shared

We share information only as needed with:

• identity, hosting, database, security, and infrastructure providers;
• Google and other approved advertising technology providers;
• third-party websites you choose to reference, including image hosts that your browser contacts when loading an image URL; and
• authorities or other parties when required by law or to protect users.

We do not exchange account lists or saved rankings for money. Advertising-related disclosures may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” under some privacy laws; where required, we provide opt-out controls.

Retention and security

Guest rankings remain in session storage for the browser session. Signed-in content is retained while your account or saved list remains active, and limited records may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, or dispute resolution. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or an advertising opt-out. To make a privacy or account-data request, email privacy@rankingledger.com. We may need to verify that the request relates to your account.

Children

The Ranking Ledger is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. Please do not create an account or submit personal information if you are under 13.

International processing and changes

Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. We may update this policy as the service, providers, or applicable requirements change. Material updates will be reflected by a new effective date on this page.
